Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) released the following statement on the results of a nationwide internal audit into waitlist practices at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities:

"Today's report raises even more concerns about questionable practices at VA facilities that impact the timeliness, and subsequently, the quality of care we are providing our brave veterans. I remain committed to getting to the bottom of this situation and working to find solutions to get our heroes the care they deserve. I will also be continuing my aggressive oversight and engagement with the hospital systems that serve veterans in our region of Illinois. As investigations continue, we must ensure that all those found negligent in the care of our veterans, criminally or otherwise, are held accountable. Our veterans deserve no less than the very best care."
