Lujan Calls For VA Secretary Shinseki To Resign

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico's Third District released the following statement today calling for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki to step down.

"Secretary Eric Shinseki has a long record of service to our nation and has shown a deep commitment to our veterans. However, the fact is there has been serious mistreatment of veterans as a result of systemic problems within the VA. I join Senators Udall and Heinrich in calling for Secretary Shinseki's resignation, but other VA officials or employees that are responsible for this despicable and disrespectful treatment of our veterans must step down as well. Veterans in New Mexico and across the country deserve quality, timely care, and too often they have not received it. We owe it to our veterans to solve these problems quickly."
