Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recommendation of the Alternative 20 restoration plan for the Los Angeles River:

"I applaud the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for supporting the most comprehensive plan to transform the LA River. Through this federal and local partnership, we are seizing the opportunity to restore the river the right way. Alternative 20 will revitalize the river's ecosystem, connect our communities with the river in new and exciting ways and turn this concrete channel into an attraction that will boost our local economy. I will continue working closely with Mayor Garcetti and local partners to secure the resources necessary to ensure that the project keeps moving forward."
