Location: Greencastle, PA

U.S. Representative Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) visited World Kitchen in Greencastle and Volvo Group Trucks in Hagerstown this morning to highlight the importance of some of the regions largest employers and seek feedback from employees on the issues being debated in Washington.

WORLD KITCHEN

Rep. Shuster visited World Kitchen for a tour of the facility today, which was given by Brett Rockers, the company's Director of Distributions. World Kitchen has approximately 400 employees, and their Greencastle facility handles distribution, assembly and warehousing of consumer glassware. The 1 million square foot facility is undergoing a $20 million expansion to create new office space, add new roofing, replace the air conditioning and add new truck loading docks.

"Local employers like World Kitchen play a crucial role in our community," said Rep. Shuster. "It's wonderful to see such a major employer expand their operation here in the 9th District, and I had a great time touring their facility. The feedback I heard today is essential to my job in Washington, and I thank everyone for sharing their thoughts on how we can help businesses like World Kitchen thrive."

VOLVO GROUP TRUCKS

Following his visit to Greencastle, Rep. Shuster made a stop at Volvo Group Trucks in Hagerstown, MD on Thursday morning for a meeting with company executives to discuss the plant's business, community involvement, and products. Following the meeting, he took a tour of the facility and met with workers to hear their concerns and provide information on recent developments in Congress.

"It was great to see how Volvo Group Trucks is using technology to create such an efficient manufacturing process," Rep. Shuster said. "This facility's expansion has the potential to bring over one hundred jobs to our area, and is an important part of the local economy in Franklin County. I had a great time touring the facility, and the feedback from the employees here is crucial to helping me be a better advocate for my constituents in Washington."

The Volvo Group Trucks facility in Hagerstown occupies 1.5 million square feet of space, has 1,340 employees, and is responsible for the design and manufacture of the Volvo D11, D13 and D16 engines. A new $30 million investment will add up to 140 new jobs at the plant, and expand the facility's manufacturing capabilities to include heavy-duty drive axles.
