Congressman Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) today released the following statement on the Electrify Africa Act:

"Electrifying Africa is a noble goal, but this corporate-welfare bill does little more than approve the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, a billion-dollar slush fund for politically connected businesses. Arkansas taxpayers shouldn't be on the hook for the Ritz-Carlton in Istanbul, MTV Russia, and other wasteful OPIC-financed projects. Arkansans deserve better than Washington politicians wasting tax dollars to reward their cronies."
