Location: Wilkes-Barre, PA

Today, U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright announced the awarding of a $10,000 Juvenile Accountability Block Grant to Luzerne County by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).

The funds will be used to continue the partial funding of an Assistant District Attorney (ADA). The ADA serves as the Luzerne County Juvenile Court Prosecutor. In addition to representing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in cases involving juveniles, the ADA works with the Victims Unit and the Luzerne County Juvenile Probation Department to ensure the delivery of victims' rights and services.

"As an attorney, I have a deep respect for our criminal justice system," said Cartwright. "The continued funding for an ADA will help ensure that our local criminal justice system operates efficiently and serves local juveniles in a fair and impartial manner."

The PCCD allocates federal funds to a wide variety of justice-related programs, including: victim services; juvenile justice initiatives; adult court and corrections projects; local law enforcement; technology projects; and others.
