Statement on Republican Budget Proposal

Statement

Date: April 1, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3), member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the Republican budget proposal for FY2015, which Chairman Paul Ryan introduced today. The Budget Committee is scheduled to begin marking up the proposal at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday:

"With their latest budget, House Republicans are again eliminating opportunities for struggling families, raising costs for seniors, and ending the Medicare guarantee -- all so they can reward their own special interests with tax breaks and loopholes that ship jobs overseas. Rather than investing in our future, this Republican budget forecloses on it, raising the cost of education for students and curbing critical investments in research, innovation, and infrastructure that would help grow our economy.

"Democrats have a different vision. We are working to create jobs and strengthen the middle class, protect Medicare, make education more affordable, and build our economy by investing in workers -- not special interests."
