Location: Washington, DC

Today, Rep. Ralph Hall (TX-04) voted in support of the Republican Study Committee's budget that would balance the federal budget in four years, rein in Washington's huge deficits, and repeal "ObamaCare." The RSC budget failed to receive a majority vote for passage, but a subsequent vote on the Ryan budget was approved.

"Both budgets were commendable for bringing the budget into balance without raising taxes and for repealing and replacing ObamaCare. The main difference was the RSC budget achieved balance in four years, and the Ryan budget balanced in 10 years. I voted for the budget that balanced sooner, rather than later," Hall said.

"This Administration's out-of-control spending is, without a doubt, unsustainable, and it is hurting American families who are struggling to pay bills and find jobs," said Hall. "Hardworking taxpayers' dollars should not be thoughtlessly spent on this Administration's big government expansion. As a longtime supporter and co-sponsor of a Balanced Budget Amendment, I believe Washington has a responsibility to the American people to balance the budget and live within its means -- just like American families do every year. Today's budgets do just that."

Hall continued, "I will continue to fight for a balanced budget without raising taxes in order to boost job creation and economic growth, improve the lives of all Americans, and ensure our children and grandchildren inherit a prosperous America."

Both the RSC and Ryan budgets would:

Bring the budget into balance without raising taxes;
Repeal "ObamaCare";
Strengthen Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security to ensure these important programs are preserved for future generations;
Reform the tax code to make it more fair and simple;
Reduce deficit spending;
Restore Defense spending cuts under the President's "sequester"; and
Return to principles of welfare reform.
