Senator Blunt Introduces Bipartisan "Hire More Heroes Act'

U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) today introduced the "Hire More Heroes Act" (S.2190), bipartisan legislation aimed at encouraging companies to hire more American veterans, while providing relief from the burdensome ObamaCare employer mandate. Blunt serves as a member of the bipartisan Congressional Veterans Job Caucus. Blunt also introduced the bill as an amendment to the unemployment insurance legislation today.

In addition to Blunt, the Hire More Heroes Act is co-sponsored by U.S. Senators Kelly Ayotte (N.H.), John Boozman (Ark.), Richard Burr (N.C.), John Cornyn (Texas), Jim Inhofe (Okla.), Johnny Isakson (Ga.) Mark Kirk (Ill.), John McCain (Ariz.), Mitch McConnell (Ky.), Jerry Moran (Kan.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Rob Portman (Ohio), Mark Pryor (Ark.), and Roger Wicker (Miss.). The bill overwhelmingly passed the U.S. House of Representatives, 406-1.

"Our nation's veterans deserve every opportunity to find good-paying jobs after they've served to protect America," said Blunt. "This bipartisan bill will incentivize businesses to hire more veterans who already have health care through TRICARE or the VA by allowing them to exempt these employees when determining if they meet the health care law's 50 full-time equivalent employee requirement."
