Congressman Cantor Holds Education Roundtable In Henrico

Press Release

Date: March 31, 2014
Location: Henrico, VA
Issues: K-12 Education

Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-7) today toured Henrico Public Schools' Engineering Specialty Center and Highland Springs Technical Center and then participated in a roundtable with counselors, graduates, and private sector partners to discuss how career and technical training programs prepare our students with the skills they need to succeed:

"At a time when many people in our communities are chronically unemployed and college graduates face mounting debt, career and technical education programs are more important than ever. I was pleased to see the work that the Henrico County Public Schools are doing to provide parents and students with more choices and opportunities starting in high school. At the federal level, I will continue to work to ensure that all students have the opportunity to jumpstart their careers through apprenticeships, dual enrollment programs, and public-private partnerships like those available here at Highland Springs. I look forward to working with local educators and administrators to provide the best environment possible for Virginia's students to take advantage of the programs like the one I saw today in order to advance their careers and achieve their goals."
