Date: April 7, 2014
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Energy

Today, the House Committee on Natural Resources held a hearing on the President's Budget Proposal for the Department of the Interior with Secretary Sally Jewell. Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC-03) used the opportunity to raise questions about Atlantic Energy Production, permitting of Seismic Testing and the inclusion of the Atlantic in the Administration's next Five Year Lease Program.

After the hearing, Congressman Duncan had this to say:

"I appreciate Secretary Jewell's straight-forward testimony and was pleased to hear the Department of Interior is seriously looking into the inclusion of the Atlantic OCS in the Administration's next 5 year plan. I was also encouraged by Secretary Jewell's commitment to move forward with Seismic Testing so that we may update decades' old data to determine what harvestable resources we have."

"Opening up the Atlantic OCS for energy production will provide a world of opportunity for our state and nation. I look forward to working with Secretary Jewell and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to make North American energy security a reality and for the opportunity to create energy jobs at home in the meantime."
