U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) today released the following statement on reports that the Obama Administration is considering using the release of Jonathan Pollard to ensure the extension of the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks:

"I continue to believe that releasing Jonathan Pollard is the right thing to do. However, releasing Mr. Pollard simply to keep Israeli-Palestinian talks going is totally misguided and would be seen as a desperate attempt to avert failure."
