Renacci Votes To Restore Certainty To Ohio Doctors

Statement

Rep. Jim Renacci (Oh-16) today released the below statement after voting in favor of the SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act. This legislation repeals the flawed Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula and replaces traditional fee-for-service with a payment model that rewards physicians for quality rather than quantity.

"For too long, physicians in Ohio and around the country have been burdened with uncertainty as they face the threat of massive Medicare payment cuts each year. As a businessman, I know just how devastating a lack of certainty is to an organization's plan for its future," said Rep. Jim Renacci. "We must restore predictability to the Medicare payment process so that they have the opportunity to hire necessary staff and invest in practice improvements. I was proud to vote in favor of the Medicare Patient Access and Quality Improvement Act, a bill that permanently repeals the flawed SGR formula and uses a 5-year delay of the individual mandate to fully pay for the repeal. The Administration has already delayed the employer mandate twice, it's high time that hardworking individuals and families are afforded the same relief that businesses were already granted. The one size fits all approach that is so prevalent in Washington is a roadblock to physicians seeking to provide high quality care to our nation's seniors, and today's vote recognizes that."
