Camp Statement on February Unemployment Numbers

Statement

Date: March 7, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released its unemployment report for February 2014.

"This jobs report still isn't good enough. We have essentially lost a decade of opportunity due to a continually weak economy, and it is clear that at this rate we are drifting toward losing a generation. Washington may be doing fine, and the President may think it is OK to walk away from the problems we face as a nation -- as he did in his budget -- but House Republicans will not. We will continue to put forward bold solutions to kick-start this economy and bring needed relief to hardworking taxpayers. That is why I have put forward a comprehensive tax reform plan that not only simplifies the tax code, but will create nearly 2 million jobs and put an extra $1,300 in the pockets of the average family. I urge the President and Democrats to join us in that debate, and on other job-creating opportunities like the Trade Priorities Act, so we can get this nation headed in the right direction again."
