Forbes Releases Statement on QDR

Statement

Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04), Chairman of the House Armed Services Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, issued a statement following the release of the Defense Department's 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR):

"Today's QDR provides an assessment of the dire national security situation caused by reckless defense cuts. It lays out a strategic vision that includes the need for a greater emphasis on our Seapower and Projection Forces and the serious challenges we face from the Persian Gulf to the Asia-Pacific. Unfortunately, while we have pinpointed where we are, and while the ship has been pointed in the right direction, this Administration has failed to provide the resources needed to make her steam. Without the means to provide for a military that can truly project power, deter adversaries, and win our nation's wars decisively, the QDR is nothing but a vision statement. I continue to hope that, after five years of reckless defense cuts, this Administration will begin to move beyond aspirational goals and seek to prioritize the resources required for our military to be able to execute a 21st century defense strategy."
