Gas prices in Ohio and across the nation are increasing at a time when Americans can least afford it. We must support all options available to us, including renewable energy, clean coal, and expanded drilling here at home. Congress needs to implement an all-of-the-above energy plan that capitalizes on our nation's strengths and increases our nation's energy independence.
We need American energy to solve America's energy problem. We need to take advantage of the technological innovations that will help us reduce our dependency on foreign oil. That is why I introduced The American Made Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act, a bipartisan bill which will create jobs, reduce the price of gas at the pump, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

My plan opens up untapped oil resources in the Outer Continental Shelf which will raise revenue from new offshore drilling leases and provide a new dedicated source of revenue to fund infrastructure projects, creating thousands of new jobs. The measure was also part of the energy and infrastructure jobs bill announced by House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) in late 2011.
