In the House Energy & Commerce Committee's "Messing with Success: How CMS' Attack on the Part D Program Will Increase Costs and Reduce Choices for Seniors" hearing today, Rep. Phil Gingrey, M.D., criticized the Obama administration's recent action to gut the Medicare Part D program. The proposed rule would result in raised costs and fewer health care options for senior patients.
"It is befuddling that the Obama administration would attack a free-market program that is so clearly working," said Rep. Gingrey. "The pattern of sacrificing the quality of health care to bring more government control to Medicare programs must stop. This move is yet another example of the administration's willingness to ignore the intent of written law. This time, it's our seniors that will be hit the hardest. I will remain steadfast in the fight to preserve the Medicare Part D program for the benefit of our seniors while opposing unilateral executive rulemaking that ignores constitutional separations of power."
