Nevada Senator Harry Reid made the following statement on the February employment report. According to the Labor Department, the economy added 175,000 jobs in February. The unemployment rate is 6.7 percent.
"Our economy continues to improve with last month marking 48 consecutive months of private-sector job growth. While this is welcome news, unfortunately far too many continue to look for a job, especially in my home state. To help Americans looking for work, we should provide the lifeline of unemployment insurance to those who have lost their job through no fault of their own. We are one Republican vote away.
Republicans should join Democrats to help those struggling to make ends meet and make job creating investments in areas like infrastructure and education. This is simple common-sense, and I hope my Republican colleagues will agree."
