EPA's Tier 3 Rule is Both Unnecessary and Costly

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) today released the following statement in regard to the EPA's Tier 3 rule, which according to some estimates will raise gasoline prices by up to nine cents per gallon.

"The EPA's Tier 3 rule poses a threat to consumers, jobs and the economy by increasing the cost of delivering energy to American families and businesses," said Latta. "It also provides negligible environmental benefits, as the agency's Tier 2 ruling already reduced sulfur levels in gasoline by 90 percent. This ruling is both unnecessary and costly and will negatively impact hardworking Americans who have already faced unprecedented costs at the pump over the last three years. If the Administration is really going to pursue an "all of the above' energy strategy, then it should look for ways to make energy more affordable and accessible -- not more expensive."
