Blackburn Votes Against Debt Ceiling Increase

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) issued the following statement on her vote in opposition to raising the debt ceiling.

"We can't continue to allow this President to drive our economy deeper into debt at the expense of our children and grandchildren. It's time for Congress to implement policies that put our economy back on the path to fiscal health. That's why every year since coming to Congress I have sponsored legislation to cut spending across the board.

"Raising the debt ceiling without any guarantee of future spending cuts is irresponsible and only makes our nation's debt problem worse. This vote today is yet another example of why we must work to rein in reckless spending. It is clear that Washington doesn't have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem."
