Issue Position

As a legislator, Sam Cann knows that nothing is more important to the people of West Virginia than a strong, vibrant economy that will allow our children to stay home and our families to stay together. That's why he's voted to increase the minimum wage and to cut taxes by over $400 million for our working families and businesses.

Sam has championed legislation to create launch pads which are tax free zones for new and innovative businesses. And he's backed the creation of a "Future Fund" that will utilize some of the money the state is deriving from natural gas production to diversify our economy and expand opportunities for our people.

Senator Cann knows that just as the interstate highway system was the key to growth a generation ago -- the information superhighway is the key to the jobs of tomorrow. That's why he's supporting a plan to expand high-speed internet access throughout West Virginia. Research shows every high tech job creates another four jobs in other sectors.
