Senator Hagan believes we must disrupt, dismantle, and defeat al Qaeda in the Middle East. She is incredibly proud of the leadership our servicemembers demonstrate in fighting terrorism abroad, and since taking office she has visited with North Carolina servicemembers on the ground in the Afghanistan several times.
As Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Emerging Threats Subcommittee, Senator Hagan oversees several aspects of our national security that are critical for rooting out terrorism and protecting our nation.

The subcommittee's jurisdiction includes combatting emerging threats, such as the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, chemical and biological attacks, terrorism, illegal drugs and piracy; oversight of Special Operations Forces, defense science and technology programs, and Counter Improvised Explosive Device activities; homeland defense; and implementing security assistance to our international partners.
