U.S. Senator Mark Pryor today said that, thanks to the passage of the Farm Bill, Arkansas ranchers will now be eligible for livestock disaster assistance. Earlier Friday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that producers will be able to sign up in 60 days for assistance to recover from losses in 2014, 2013, and 2012.
"Today's announcement is good news for Arkansas ranchers still dealing with losses from the drought and other severe weather in our state," Pryor said. "I was proud to support the bipartisan Farm Bill and to be a strong advocate for our state's agricultural producers who keep our communities and our economy strong."
The Farm Bill Conference Report, now law, made the Livestock Disaster Assistance Program permanent--ensuring Arkansas ranchers are protected in times of severe weather and natural disasters.
