Blackburn Leads Fight to Prevent Taxpayer Money from Funding Abortions

Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) today led the fight in the House of Representatives to prevent taxpayer money from funding abortions. H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, passed the House with bipartisan support.

"Taxpayer funding for abortion is fiscally irresponsible. Over 60% of Americans have affirmed they do not want to see their hard-earned tax dollars funding abortion services. This bill simply codifies the Hyde Amendment so it applies across the federal government and ensures the Obama administration cannot find new ways of funneling public funds towards abortion providers.

"Americans also have the right to know whether plans on the Obamacare exchanges are providing abortion coverage. This bill does what the Obama Administration and HHS have failed repeatedly to do: inform the American people of what their health plan covers so they can pick the plan that conforms to their conscience."
