Price Responds to January 2014 Jobs Report

Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06), responded to the release of the January 2014 jobs report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, saying:

"Today's report is an unfortunate reminder that we are experiencing the slowest recovery in recent history.

"Earlier this week, we learned that the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates Obamacare will lead to the equivalent of 2.5 million fewer full-time workers in the next few years. The Obama Administration relished in this development, claiming that their takeover of health care would allow more Americans to forego working because they'll still have taxpayer-provided health care.

"In rejoicing in this terrible news, the White House defies the dignity of work that has been the foundation for the most innovative and productive nation in human history. Americans are industrious people who for generations have climbed the economic ladder -- and thus, grew our economy -- through wits and work.

"At a time when jobs are scarce, President Obama isn't cooperating with Congressional Republicans to make things better for the American people. Instead, he's telling folks to just give up. That's unfortunate, but it will not discourage our efforts to promote a stronger economy with greater opportunity."
