It's Time to Give American Women a Raise they Have Earned

Statement

When my grandparents were raising me, I learned that, if you work hard and play by the rules, you can get ahead. The Wisconsinites I talk to grew up learning the same thing. Today, they're working as hard as ever and deserve to get ahead, but many are working full time and barely getting by.

The time is now to give hard working, American women, a raise. Under the Minimum Wage Fairness Act, 28 million American workers will get a raise and more than half of these workers are women.

Yesterday, we celebrated the fifth anniversary of taking action to pass the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which helped close the wage gap between women and men working equivalent jobs. Today our work is not yet done - it's time to give American women a raise they have earned.
