Perry: House Passage of HB 2 Signals a Strong Commitment to Education Reform

"I applaud the Texas House of Representatives for demonstrating a strong commitment to meaningful education reform and passing HB 2. This Roadmap to Results, which has been championed by Speaker Craddick and Chairman Grusendorf, represents a significant step toward reaching our goal of academic excellence for Texas schools. HB 2 devotes new resources to schools, improves teacher compensation, and focuses on achievement.

To ensure that the effort to reform our education system and to reduce property taxes stays on course, it is vital that the members of the House follow the leadership of Speaker Craddick and Chairman Keffer and pass HB 3. I urge the House of Representatives to pass HB 3 and send the entire education reform proposal to the Senate so that work can continue and the process can proceed."
