Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen made the following statement following the passage of the Ugandan parliament's discriminatory law that unfairly targets Ugandans based on their sexual orientation.
Statement by Ros-Lehtinen: "This is a sad day for human rights around the world. While most nations are moving toward compassion, tolerance, and non-discrimination, Uganda is unfortunately moving backward. All people deserve to live free of harassment and discrimination and should be able to express themselves without fear of persecution. All people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect across every country and continent."
