Dr. Ruiz Joins Bipartisan Effort to Restore Veteran Retiree Benefit Cuts Included in the Bipartisan Budget Act

Today, Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-Palm Desert) joined a group of bipartisan lawmakers in support of legislation that would restore cuts to military retiree cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) included in the Bipartisan Budget Act.

"The budget agreement was critical to averting another manufactured crisis and government shutdown but the bill contained COLA reductions for military retirees that I would not have supported outside of the context of the budget agreement. This legislation corrects a flaw in the Bipartisan Budget Act by restoring critical cost-of-living- adjustments to military pensions. I urge House leadership to take this bill up for a vote right away. As a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, it is a top priority of mine to ensure veterans in the Coachella Valley and across the country receive the benefits they have earned."
