House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) today released the following statement applauding passage of H.R. 3362, the Exchange Information Disclosure Act, sponsored by Congressman Lee Terry. In light of the lack of transparency surrounding the ObamaCare exchange enrollment numbers, this bill will require the Department of Health and Human Services to immediately provide accurate numbers of Americans who have fully enrolled on healthcare.gov:
"ObamaCare has not lived up to its promises. The Administration refuses to release full and transparent ObamaCare enrollment data in order to hide its failures. The cherry-picked numbers they do release show ObamaCare is not working, so one can only wonder what the numbers they are hiding show. As the White House dodges the answers to important questions, the House will continue the oversight and accountability needed under ObamaCare.
"The Exchange Information Disclosure Act will hold the Administration accountable for accurate and timely enrollment information. ObamaCare is fundamentally flawed and only a full repeal will solve its many problems. The House will continue to ensure that there is transparency and accountability under the law in order to protect people from its harmful effects. House Republicans will continue to put forward patient-centered solutions that will reduce costs and protect working middle class families. I thank Congressman Lee Terry for his work on this bill and I urge the Senate to join us in this effort."
