Pete Sessions Plan to Stop ObamaCare

In 2010, Democrats defied the will of the American people and rammed a 2,700 page heath care bill through Congress that sought to take over our entire health care system. From day one, I have led the fight in the House to stop the ObamaCare train wreck, beginning when it came to the House Rules Committee in March of 2010. Let there be no doubt - I will continue to lead this fight until ObamaCare is fully repealed.

North Texas families and businesses are already facing the damaging effects of ObamaCare. Employers are cutting full-time employees to part-time and are dropping employees from their preferred healthcare plan. Health insurance premiums are skyrocketing and out of pocket costs are growing astronomically. Additionally, even though the president promised Americans that if they liked their health care plan, they could keep their health care plan, he knew that this was not the case. In reality, the Obama Administration has known for at least three years that 50-75% of the 14 million Americans who buy individual insurance plans would not be able to keep them under ObamaCare.

In short, the Democrats' empty promises about their massive health care bill have become a frightening reality for the American people. ObamaCare is unworkable, unaffordable, and unpopular.

Perhaps the most damaging aspect of ObamaCare is its negative impact on health care quality. Previous to ObamaCare, the U.S. enjoyed the most prestigious and innovative health care system in the world. Thanks to the launch of ObamaCare, our health care system is already beginning to show cracks in delivering high-quality care to patients.

We now know that almost every Democrat claim about ObamaCare was deceitful from the outset. Insured Americans are not seeing their premiums go down. Instead, far too many Americans are learning that their premiums will actually cost more than before and that they will owe more in out of pocket costs, assuming they are able to keep their existing plans at all. Additionally, ObamaCare will put a much larger drain on the federal budget than what was promised at the time of its passage. Finally, our privacy is being sacrificedfor the supposed benefit of having federal bureaucrats make the personal health care decisions that Americans should be able to make on their own with their doctors.

I continue to believe that ObamaCare must be stopped and have voted more than 30 times in the House to repeal, defund, and dismantle it. Most recently, I voted to defund ObamaCare in the House's continuing resolution on September 20, 2013. I will continue to stand up for my constituents and to fully repeal ObamaCare and replace it with responsible reforms that actually lower costs and provide superior health care.
