House Armed Services Committee Chairman Howard P. "Buck" McKeon made the following statement in observance of the 72nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii:
"Seventy two years ago, our nation was forever changed by the horrific and merciless attack on Pearl Harbor. We must never forget the bravery and sacrifice of the 2,400 service members who were killed on that fateful day and the hundreds of thousands of young Americans who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the War. We pray for those patriots who lost their lives and the families and friends they left behind. Yet we must also remember that in the wake of tragedy, our resilient nation came together to lead the forces of liberty around the world to defeat the forces of evil and tyranny. The best way to honor the sacrifice and heroism of that generation of patriots is to protect and defend the military they passed on to us and ensure that it remains the greatest force for good the world has ever known and will ever know."
