Gov. Perry Announces SBA Assistance for Central Texas Counties Affected by Floods

Gov. Rick Perry today announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has granted his request to provide disaster assistance to storm victims in Caldwell, Hays and Travis counties, which experienced severe flooding on October 31st. This decision automatically makes those also affected in the neighboring counties of Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Comal, Fayette, Gonzales, Guadalupe and Williamson eligible for the same federal assistance.

"The tragedy of last month's storms weighs heavily on the hearts of all of us in Central Texas," Gov. Perry said. "This much needed assistance will help our families and local businesses get back on their feet and on the road to recovery as quickly as possible."

Homeowners, renters and businesses in all 11 counties will be eligible to apply for long-term, low-interest SBA disaster loans. Homeowners can borrow up to $200,000 for residential damages, and renters and homeowners may borrow up to $40,000 to replace or repair personal property was lost as a result of the flood. Businesses of any size and nonprofit organizations can borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace real estate assets, machinery and equipment, business inventory and other business assets damaged by the storm. The loans are offered at low interest rates for terms of up to 30 years.

A Disaster Loan Outreach Center will open in Travis County on Monday, November 25, and centers will open in Caldwell and Hays counties after the Thanksgiving holiday. Location information for the centers is included below.
