Governor Corbett Commends House for Positive Vote on Transportation Legislation

Governor Tom Corbett today issued the following statement regarding the state House of Representatives vote on the Micozzie Amendment, which outlines a comprehensive transportation plan:

"Today, the House of Representatives made a dramatic choice to invest in the future of Pennsylvania. In doing so, they have set the stage for the safety of our children and the economic prosperity for Pennsylvania.

"Voting for a comprehensive transportation plan will keep our transportation system safe and efficient, improve the state's economy, and improve the quality of life for our 12 million-plus residents.

"My sincere thanks to Sam Smith for his leadership on this critical issue and to those House members who accepted the challenge to bring us one step closer to delivering a comprehensive transportation plan for the people of Pennsylvania."

PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch added:

"Governor Corbett has spent months pushing for an affirmative vote on a comprehensive transportation plan. The House has taken action and we look forward to Senate agreement and the Governor's signature on a finished product.
