Today, Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) issued the following statement upon passage of legislation that would allow Americans to keep their healthcare plan. The Keep Your Health Plan Act (H.R. 3350) passed the House 261-157.
"Despite the President's promise that Americans could keep their healthcare plans, thousands of my constituents in the 24th District of Texas have learned that their preferred health insurance policies will soon be terminated. As of today, millions of Americans across the country have received cancellation notices as a result of the President's healthcare law. This is unacceptable.
"Americans should not be forced to buy health coverage that they don't want, at prices they can't afford, or pay penalties for not signing-up through a dysfunctional enrollment system. Most Democrats claim the Keep Your Health Plan Act is an attempt to gut Obamacare, but they are only trying to protect their failed policies. This bill is about protecting Americans -- not the flawed healthcare law -- and ensuring that individuals will not lose the healthcare plans they like and then be fined for not having health coverage. That is why I voted for the Keep Your Health Plan Act."
