Kuster Hosts 21st Century Workforce Roundtable at Omni Components in Hudson

As part of her commitment to helping create jobs and opportunity for middle class families, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) today convened a diverse group of students, business owners, and education leaders for a roundtable discussion focused on local efforts to train and secure a highly-skilled, 21st century workforce in the Granite State. During the roundtable at Omni Components in Hudson, Kuster highlighted her efforts in Congress to strengthen workforce development, and heard directly from local stakeholders who are on the frontlines of ensuring that Granite State students and workers have the skills they need to compete for well-paying, middle class jobs.

"Training a highly-skilled, 21st century workforce in the Granite State is critical for growing our economy, creating jobs, and strengthening the middle class," Kuster said. "When we invest in our workforce, more young people will stay here in New Hampshire, our students will be more competitive in the job market, and our businesses will be more successful in the economy. I was thrilled to host this roundtable to hear about all of the great work being done in Nashua and across the state to equip our students with the skills they need to fill the jobs of today and tomorrow."

Roundtable participants included students from Nashua Community College and representatives from Omni Components, UltraSource Inc., the Community College System of New Hampshire, Stay Work Play New Hampshire, Nashua Community College, and other local organizations focused on workforce development.

Earlier this year, Kuster introduced legislation that would provide up to $10,000 in annual tax credits to employers that partner with community colleges or other institutions of higher education to improve workforce development for students. Kuster's legislation, the Workforce Development Investment Act, has been adopted as part of the official Make It In America jobs plan.

A member of the House Small Business Committee, Kuster has prioritized efforts to foster job creation, grow the economy, and expand opportunity for middle class families. Last month, Kuster introduced legislation to extend and expand a federal pilot program to help boost small businesses exports.

She has also supported legislation to make permanent the federal research and development tax credit, helped lead the fight to prevent pending regulations from harming New England farmers, voted to keep student loan interest rates low for students and families, and worked to protect New Hampshire small businesses from burdensome online sales tax collection requirements.
