Peters Statement on Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day today, U.S. Representative Gary Peters recognizes the service, sacrifice and leadership of the Michigan men and women who answered the call to defend our nation. His statement follows:

"Veterans Day is a time for us to come together and recognize the outstanding honor and achievements of the brave men and women who have answered the call of duty to serve our nation. Our veterans know firsthand that freedom has never been free, and all Americans owe our way of life to those willing to take up arms to defend all that we hold dear.

"To the proud Michigan veterans, please know - we honor your service; we remember your sacrifice; and we are inspired by your leadership in our community.On Veterans Day and every day, we are forever grateful."

Peters formerly served as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He attended the Metropolitan Detroit Veterans Coalition 8th Annual Veterans Day Parade Ceremony over the weekend. This morning, he honored fallen heroes at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
