Today, Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI12) released the following statement in commemoration of Veterans Day, which falls on Monday.
"This Veterans Day, as we continue to hold our heroes high in both praise and prayer, we must also commit to providing them with the absolute best in care. Let us remember that the battles our brave men and women face do not simply end upon their return from combat, and the sacrifices they make are not solely done in uniform or on foreign soil. As a nation, we must work each and every single day to do more for these courageous individuals and ensure that they and their families are protected and cared for.
"The very freedoms we enjoy, because of our veterans, provide us with the ability to tackle any and all challenges we face as a nation. Yet, historically, it is care for those who put their lives on the line that falls by the wayside. As a veteran myself, I remain committed to ensuring that we do more to provide the very best protections and care for my fellow men and women in uniform. While we've certainly made great progress in recent years, the American people agree that more can be done. I hope my colleagues in Congress share this priority of mine, and together we can see to it that we better transform our words into actions, and keep the promises we've made to these heroes. God bless our veterans."
