Today, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a senior member of the Florida Congressional delegation, announced her support for three bills to improve veterans' services:
H.R. 1742, the Vulnerable Veterans Housing Reform Act
H.R. 2481, the Veterans Economic Opportunity Act
H.R. 2189, to establish a commission or task force to evaluate the backlog of disability claims of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
These bills would establish the Veterans Economic Opportunity Administration to help provide veterans with a unified place to receive assistance with programs, improve how veterans receive housing assistance, and work to clear the backlog of veterans' disability cases.
Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
"Veterans are rightfully outraged over the backlog of their disability cases that negatively impacts them. They have served our nation and deserve and have earned prompt action. My district office assists many veterans and I know the consequences even a temporary delay in processing a case can have on veterans and their families. By working to improve the backlog and provide better housing and economic assistance to veterans, we can work to ensure we take care of America's heroes. Our veterans are owed the highest duty of protection, care, and service by a grateful nation."
