As an Air Force officer who worked in combat zones, John knows the importance of responsible gun ownership and supports the second amendment. But he agrees with nearly 90% of Americans that we need common sense background checks for gun buyers and that buying assault weapons shouldn't be easier than getting a drivers license. He also believes that guns have no place in places like our schools, at sporting events and especially in bars.

David Ramadan, John's opponent, believes there should be no gun safety restrictions in Virginia and wants to repeal existing laws, meaning criminals and the dangerously mentally ill can obtain guns with no questions asked.
