A Budget that Invests in Economic Growth, Research & Innovation

Press Release

Date: Oct. 23, 2013

On Tuesday, Tammy visited Professor Bruce Klein's molecular medical mycology lab to learn more about UW-Madison's innovations in immunity. During her visit she took time to have a conversation with researchers, students, and staff about the importance of university research and its contributions to economic growth.

In the coming weeks, Tammy will be part of the bipartisan Budget Conference Committee negotiations to pass a budget that she hopes will invest in economic growth and improve our competitiveness.

One of Tammy's top priorities, as part of the Budget Conference Committee, will be to make sure investments in 'Made in Wisconsin' research and innovation remain a priority in order to support our 'Made in Wisconsin' economy.

"It's time for both parties to work together, find common ground, and pass a responsible budget that invests in economic growth. One thing we should be able to agree on is the need to pass a budget that creates jobs, strengthens the middle class and grows our economy.

In order for America to out-innovate the rest of the world and create an economy built to last, we must protect and strengthen our investments in research, science, and innovation."
