Pete Sessions Statement on House Passage of the Senate Agreement

Statement

Date: Oct. 16, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of the Senate agreement:

"While I'm pleased that Congress moved forward to reopen the government and avoid default, I'm extremely disappointed that the president refused to have meaningful negotiations with House Republicans in the process. I did not support the bill tonight because I believe that this was a missed opportunity to address our nation's long-term fiscal challenges. As this fight moves forward, I will continue to work to protect North Texans from ObamaCare and reduce out-of-control government spending in order to jumpstart our economy and reenergize job growth."
