Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-CA), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, today announced the following changes to the committee staff. In commenting on staff changes, McKeon said:
"Roger Zakheim has served this committee and his country with skill, conscience, and enthusiasm. He was especially helpful to me as I assumed the chairmanship of the HASC, by providing me with the opportunity to further my knowledge of all the trouble spots around the globe. While his transition to the private sector means that Members of the Committee will miss his wise counsel, I know we can always rely on his friendship. I will never forget the contribution Roger has made to keeping America safe. The House is truly fortunate that in Jenness Simler, we have an equally excellent and able successor."
The following staff changes are effective immediately:
Jenness Simler, Deputy Staff Director: Jenness Simler has served on the committee staff for eight years, most recently as Policy Director. She succeeds Roger Zakheim who is leaving the staff for the private sector.
Catherine McElroy, General Counsel: Catherine McElroy has previously served on the committee as Deputy General Counsel, having also served as Counsel to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and Assistant General Counsel at the Central Intelligence Agency.
Kari Bingen, Policy Director: Kari Bingen returns to the Committee to serve as Policy Director. Bingen formerly served on the committee as the staff lead for the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces.
