This week, because Harry Reid and Senate Democrats refused multiple pieces of House legislation to fund the government, a shutdown went into effect at midnight on Tuesday.
This shutdown has affected hundreds of thousands of Americans, and it's affected me too.
Because Senate Democrats cared more about protecting President Obama than running the country, even I had to furlough most of the hardworking staff that helps me serve you every day. I've sat down myself to take many, many phone calls coming into my office this week, and Northeast Georgians tell me that what I've heard over the last many months is true: Obamacare is hurting everyone.
A few hours before the Senate Democrats forced this shutdown, I had a telephone town hall meeting where we took a quick poll of everyone in the 9th District on the call. I asked if they felt that the burden of Obamacare was so serious that we should have this debate now, even with a government shutdown looming, and 69% agreed.
If you agree or disagree, you can always tell me. It may take a while for us to get back to you right now, but I'm always here.
