Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) issued the following statement after House Republican leadership passed legislation that will guarantee a government shutdown:
"With only two days left to avert a shutdown of the government House Republican leadership chose to once again play partisan politics. The bill passed today guarantees a government shutdown, which will hurt our economy, threaten job creation and leave both families and our country with less certainty and stability.
"The American people have made it clear that they do not want a government shutdown. It is time for Congress to pass a clean CR that will keep the government running. This issue is too important to play politics with."
