Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ 07) today supported yet another round of legislation designed to open vital federal operations.
"The House of Representatives-for the third consecutive day- moved to reopen critical government functions. Tonight we reaffirmed our commitment to the Woman, Infant and Children Nutrition Program and also provided funding for urgent FEMA needs. I am happy to report that each vote drew bipartisan support.
"These votes today come following House passage of legislation providing veterans' and National Guard benefits, reopening our national parks and landmarks, funding important health research and allowing the District of Columbia to secure our Nation's Capital. Tomorrow the House will take the lead in advancing legislation to compensate the hard-working federal workers furloughed by Senate inaction. I proudly endorse this package and urge the President and U.S. Senate to get behind these efforts."
Tomorrow the House will convene a weekend session to consider legislation providing retroactive compensation to furloughed federal employees.
