Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ 07) tonight supported a second round of legislation designed to open vital federal operations.
"The House of Representatives has acted --again-- in bipartisan fashion and moved to open important government functions. These measures, including providing veterans' and National Guard benefits and taking steps to ensure timely compensation for those defending our Nation at home, are the latest House-led actions taken to jumpstart negotiations and end the government shutdown.
"It is my hope that President Obama and leaders in the U.S. Senate will stand with us in support of the measures and give our brave service men and woman the certainty they deserve."
In addition to the legislation passed this evening, Lance has added his name as a cosponsor to H.R. 3232, which is designed to ensure there are no Department of Defense civilian personnel furloughs, including those working at New Jersey's military installations.
