Congressman Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss.) released a statement following House passage of legislation funding nutrition assistance for low income women and children and FEMA:

"The White House may enjoy bragging about 'winning' the shutdown, but the women and their children who will be denied food know this isn't a game. The folks on the Mississippi Gulf Coast know hurricanes are definitely not a game. It is time for the Senate and White House to quit playing politics with people's lives and get these bills signed into law."

Congressman Alan Nunnelee represents Mississippi's First Congressional District. He serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee. This is his second term.
