Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following after welcoming Arkansas veterans to the World War II memorial on the National Mall:

"To meet fellow veterans and hear their stories as we walked around the National World War II Memorial was a privilege. They are all American heroes, and I was honored to welcome them to their memorial."

Rep. Griffin has served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 17 years and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In September 2005, Griffin was mobilized to active duty to serve as an Army prosecutor at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the home of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). In May 2006, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and deployed to Iraq.

According to Honor Flight organizers, 78 veterans participated in today's visit, the oldest of which was 99 years old.
