Senators Stabenow, Levin Announce Support for the Development of Clare County Industrial Park

Statement

Date: Sept. 25, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin today welcomed the announcement of federal support for the development of a new Clare County industrial park, which will help create high-skill, high-wage jobs for the community.

"This critical investment will help businesses in my hometown of Clare create new jobs," said Stabenow. "This will help grow the economy and make Clare County an even better place to do business."

"Not only will this investment help existing businesses in Clare County, it will attract new ones," Levin said. "With this new industrial park, more companies will want to call Clare County home, spurring growth and creating new jobs."

The competitive $2,680,860 grant from the Economic Development Administration will help fund the development of a new park, which is important because the older industrial park is at capacity and cannot contribute new jobs to the region. The project will focus on the region's major industries, including timber, agriculture, oil and gas, manufacturing, and bio-medical.
